New Managing Director NaBFID

  • G Rajkiran Rai, former Chief Executive Officer of Union Bank of India was recommended as Managing Director at the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID) by by the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB).
  • Earlier he also served as the MD & CEO of Union Bank of India for five years, till his superannuation date in May 2022.
  • The erstwhile Banks Board Bureau (BBB) was converted into FSIB i.e. Financial Services Institutions Bureau, with few amendments

 PM Modi inaugurates Bundelkhand Expressway

  • Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bundelkhand Expresswayat Kaitheri village of Jalaun district in UP
  • Bundelkhand Expressway will benefit the industrial growth of the region
  • Agriculture-based industries will get boosted and will help the defence corridor consequently leading to the overall development of the region.
  • The296-kilometre long expressway having high class four-lane passes through seven districts,  Chitrakoot, Banda, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Auraiya and Etawah

Paracin Open Chess Title : Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa wins

  • 16 years old Young Indian Grandmaster, R Praggnanandhaa  won the Paracin Open ‘A’ chess tournament 2022 held in Serbia.
  • Alexander Predke (Russian player) grabbed the second spot with 7.5 points ahead of Alisher Suleymenov (Kazakhastan player), who landed at  third place.
  • V Pranav an Young Indian International Master, ended up in fifth place with 6.5 points and GM Arjun Kalyan from India settled for seventh place.

 Ashish Kumar Chauhan is appointed as new head of NSE,  approved by SEBI

  •  SEBI has approved the Appointment of  Sh. Ashish Kumar Chauhan as the new managing director and CEO of the National Stock Exchange for five years.
  • He will succeed sh. Vikram Limaye.
  • He is currently serving as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BSE. His normal tenure is scheduled to end in November 2022.
  • He is a genius technocrat passed out from IIT and IIM and termed as the father of modern financial derivatives in India. His work is highly rewarding for the investors while he worked at NSE from 1993-2000.

Mairaj Ahmad Khan becomes first Indian to win gold in men’s Skeet at ISSF

  • Mairaj Ahmad Khan, two time Olympic champion has created history by becoming the first Indian shooter to win the gold medal in the men’s skeet event at 2022 ISSF World Cup in Changwon, South Korea.
  • He recorded 37 hits out of a possible 40 in the final to win gold.
  • Minsu Kim from South Korea has bagged silver medal, while Ben Llewellin of Great Britain won bronze.
  • Women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team: Anjum Moudgil, Sift Kaur Samra and Ashi Chouksey won the bronze meda

Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Champion Harshda Garud clinches gold

  • Harshada Garudhas clinched the gold with an aggregate of 157kg,  in the women’s 45kg gold at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
  • Soumya Dalvihas bagged the bronze in the 45kg category of the youth event.
  • In the men’s 49 kg youth event, L Dhanush has won the bronze with an 85 kg effort.

Ranil Wickremesinghe sworn-in as President of Sri Lanka

  • Ranil Wickremesinghe takes over as the eighth president of Sri Lanka at the parliament premises before Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya.
  • Wickremesinghe has secured 134 votes in the 225-member House while his rival Dullas Alahapperuma got 82.
  • He took over as the Acting President after ex-President Gotabaya Rajapksa fled the country.
  • Wickremesinghe will complete his normal tenure of Rajapaksa’s term, which ends in November 2024.

15th President of India to be Sworn-in Tomorrow on 25th July, 2022

President-elect Droupadi Murmu will be sworn-in as 15th President of India in a ceremony tol be held at the Central Hall of Parliament on Monday, 25th July, 2022. Ms Murmu is the first tribal who will hold the counry’s top constitutional post. Ms Droupadi Murmu, was the NDA’s Presidential candidate and was got elected, defeating Opposition nominee Yashwant Sinha.

We have some interesting facts about Ms Draupadi Murmu here which every Indian should know:

  • First person from Scheduled Tribe (ST) community to get elected and become the President of India.
  • First person to become the President of the Nation who took birth in independent India.
  • Also served as the Governor of Jharkhand and she was the first tribal woman to hold this post. She was also the first Odisha-born woman to become a governor.
  • Served as the cabinet minister in the Odisha government during the years 2002-2004 in BJP-BJD led coalition under Naveen Patnaik.
  • Born on 20th June 1958 in a Santali family, she basically hails from Baidaposi area of Rairangpur, Mayurbhanj district of Odisha state.
  • Completed her graduation in Arts stream from Rama Devi Women’s College, Bhubaneswar. Her husband is a banker named Shyam Charan Murmu.
  • Highly disturbed personal life as in the span of 7 years – from 2009 till 2015, she lost her husband, two sons, mother and a brother.
  • Ms Draupadi Murmu has a daughter Itishri Murmu, also a banker by profession, married to Ganesh Hembram, who is a rugby player.
  • Between the years 1979 to 1983, Ms Murmu worked as Junior assistant in the State Irrigation and Power Department, Govt. Of Odisha and subsequently also served as a teacher in Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre, Rairangpur till 1997.
  • From spiritual point of view she is connected to the Brahma Kumaris since last 13 years
